When baseball historians look back at the Miami Marlins 2013 season, they should start with pitcher Chad Qualls' botched celebration after an inning-ending strike-out last night. Truly, it is the play that will define the team's season. Because even when they don't completely suck, the Fish still manage to find ways to continue to be the laughingstock of MLB.
The MLB even dutifully put up a clip of multiple angles of the stumble on its official YouTube channel.
Jeez, please no one ever invite Qualls to stomp on grapes.
Luckily Qualls wasn't injured in the tumble, but unluckily his strike-out didn't help the Marlins much. The team still lost the Mets last night 4-2.
But, hey, at least the Houston Astros continued suckery means the Marlins are now safely out of last place, and they're hot on the heals of the Chicago White Sox to claim the third-worst record in the league. Let's go Fish!
