Maybe you love George Takei because he was the original Mr. Sulu on the original Star Trek series back in the '60s. Maybe you love George Takei for his unlikely alliance with Howard Stern. Maybe you love George Takei for his firm, friendly, and flamboyant support of marriage equality, or for his support of geek culture worldwide, or for his silly, shareable Facebook posts.
Doesn't matter. The fact is, you love George Takei. Of course you do. You are a person on the Internet, and all of the Internet loves George Takei. It's rule 48, I think.
Anyway, here's the good news: You can love George Takei in the flesh (rowr) this July, when he makes an appearance at Florida Supercon.
Takei's headlining this year's annual geekfest along with a host of impressive names: Firefly and Serenity alum Adam Baldwin; Laurie Holden and Chandler Riggs of The Walking Dead fame; Watchmen creator Dave Gibbons; and legendary comic creator Al Plastino, among dozens of others.
But let's focus on George Takei for the moment, because come on: GEORGE TAKEI.
There's no word yet on what exactly Takei will do at Supercon -- whether he'll be speaking, simply making an appearance, or beyond. But here are a few things he could do:
He could read Fifty Shades of Grey. Oh my.
He could help Superconners come out to their loved ones.
He could just do his happy dance.
The options are pretty much endless. So get psyched, people. It's the Takei way.
Florida Supercon runs July 4-7. Visit floridasupercon.com.
