Cocaine Cowboys, the locally produced doc about the early days of Miami's cocaine trade, is being turned into a television series, and just like the subjects it covers it's not settling for any small time stuff. This thing is going to be A-list. That's what you get when you've got Mega-producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay behind the project for HBO.
Bay is no stranger to Miami crime dramas, having directed Bad Boys and its sequel. Let's just hope he takes it easy on the trademark megaexplosions that seems to garnish every project he touches. Haha, who are we kidding? Bring on the bombs, but don't be afraid to make it a neon-tinged replacement for HBO's dearly departed The Wire, either.
Rakontur, the production company behind the original, confirms the news and promises to have details of how the deal came about latter in the day. Congrats, guys.
