Looks like the rumors are true. When Iron Man 3 debuts in May next year, we'll be able to see Tony Stark soaring his way through Miami.

The Miami-Dade County Film & Entertainment Office has confirmed that Iron Man 3's production team will touch down in the 305 this summer -- and yes, parts of the new sequel will be set in Miami.

"We're really, really excited that the film is coming, and that Miami

will be represented," said Sandy Lighterman of the Miami Film Office.

Lighterman told us that Marvel Studios will film in South Florida for a couple of weeks in the late summer season. Locations will likely include parts of Miami, Miami Beach,

Dania Beach, and Broward County. No film permits have been obtained yet -- Lighterman said that typically happens about two weeks prior to shooting -- so details are still vague. That means nothing is guaranteed until the crew touches down in South Florida.

Still, given the recent success (and general awesomeness) of The Avengers, it's hard not to be at least a little bit excited to see the 305 starring alongside Robert Downey Jr. Lighterman couldn't tell us specifics, but confirmed that the sequel will, in fact, be partially set in Miami.

Marvel Studios, unsurprisingly, has not responded to our requests for more information; the studio is so notoriously tight-lipped that a single photo from Iron Man 3

made headlines this week. Looks like we'll have to wait to find out whether Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, or any other big names will be wandering our streets this summer.
