The SoBe Hair Show and Beauty Expo promises to gather thousands of beauty and health professionals for two days of what amounts to a beauty school crash course and a live taping of Hair Battle. Oh, we forgot to mention that Jazmine Sullivan of Def Jam Records will be performing, and she's going to be joined by some of Def Jam's A-list recording artists. We can't mention any names, but think BIG.

Some of the hair-styling industry's most prominent artists will also be at the Expo, including the aforementioned Derek J (Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hair Battle Spectacular) and Freddie J from the Chris Rock documentary Good Hair and BET's Tears, Shears, and Beauty. The Expo ties in with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and has joined forces with the American Cancer Society to bring more attention to the cause.
Carter, a breast cancer survivor, felt the Expo was a good chance to team up with the American Cancer Society's "Look Good Feel Good" program. "Being that it's a new program at Mercy Hospital we felt the SoBe Hair Show would be a good way to introduce the program to the community."
But the event is still about looking gorgeous and learning how to make other people look gorgeous. That's why a model mecca like South Beach was the perfect location for an event about beauty. Just ask Derek J:
"I love Miami; they have the most beautiful people, and the city is so full of life. It will be very interesting to see the hair creations from the stylists."
