If you're not scared of a little beer shower from a guitarist's mouth or having your head knocked about by stage divers, you might want to head for Orlando this weekend to celebrate the six-year anniversary of record label Florida's Dying.
The show will feature Miami's own Jacuzzi Boys, Electric Bunnies, and the newly formed all-girl band Snakehole. According to Jacuzzi Boys drummer Diego Monasterios, "We're all superstoked to be playing in Orlando this week with so many great bands. It's like the Mardi Gras of Florida bands."
The weekend's festivities kick off on Thursday night with an art show by Michigan-based graphic artist Ben Lyon, whose instantly recognizable and semi-gruesome drawings have appeared on posters and shirts for such labels as Memphis-based Goner Records. The images are appropriately gritty, gross, and sort of charming. Hopefully, this weekend's show at Will's Pub (1040 N. Mills Ave., Orlando) will be the same. Get to Orlando before 9 p.m. Friday night.
