It
seems like the international EDM talent is just pouring in at the
Electric Pickle lately, to the point where the artist bookings are
coming in pairs and even triples each night (see last week's disco/house/techno three-way with Sunshine Jones, Pete Herbert and Benno Blome).
Needless to say, this gratuitous over-indulgence on the establishment's
part has made it one of the most happening spots in downtown Miami and
certainly the preeminent local venue for world class dance music, where
patrons can enjoy a varied assortment of sounds on a single night. This
Friday is no exception, with Jay-J and Luke McKeehan scheduled to rock
the house.
Known as "the producer with the Midas touch," Jay-J is a prolific
international house music sensation with various high-profile exploits,
including a 2003 GRAMMY® nomination for his remix of Jill Scott's "He Loves Me" and a live performance at the 2006 MTV Australia Video Music Awards.
He has also remixed Joss Stone, Airpushers
(featuring Motown's legendary Lamont Dozier) Alicia Keys, and Lil' Kim,
and collaborated with the likes of Kaskade and Miguel Migs. With his
sultry and soulful take on vocal house, Jay-J is sure to tickle the
Pickle's deep house cognoscenti.
A veteran of Toronto's underground warehouse scene in the
1980's and owner of the Vancouver-based Nordic Trax imprint, Luke
McKeehan has established himself as one of the biggest names in
international house over the last two decades. He has played alongside
the world's top talent, including Mark Farina, Groove
Armada, Basement Jaxx and Jamiroquai, and garnered praise for his own production work. Known for his tasteful and eclectic DJ sets that explore the boundaries of deep, tech and jackin house, McKeehan should brightly complement Jay-J's sound and keep the party bumpin' on Friday.
