House meets techno this Friday when both King Britt and Andrea Ferlin take over the Electric Pickle for a night of eclectic transatlantic dance grooves. Philadelphia native King Britt has been a long-time staple of the international EDM community, having gotten his start in the early 90's on legendary house label Strictly Rhythm as E- Culture and as the member "Silkworm" of Grammy-winning alternative hip hop collective Digable Planets.
Britt would go on to co-found the prestigious Ovum Recordings imprint with Josh Wink and build up a highly-acclaimed body of work during the next decade, including collaborations with the likes of Tori Amos, Donna Lewis, and Solstice, and remixes for Macy Gray and Solange, among others. King Britt is back in Miami this Friday after his much-lauded WMC performances to treat us once more to his eclectic blend of house, breaks, jazz and soul.
Emerging Italian DJ/producer Andrea Ferlin has been gaining increasing recognition in the international underground scene, through a series of releases on the Contexterrior, Mindshake, Boxer, and Freak n' Chic labels and a bout of international touring that has seen him share the stage with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and Marco Carola. With his funked-up yet elegantly atmospheric brand of techno, Ferlin will no doubt be acquiring plenty of new fans among the Pickle's late-night techno crowd when he throws down in the upstairs room on Friday.
