Say it ain't so, papo.
A year and a half ago, DJ Laz, a Latin booty bass pioneer and 22-year radio vet, shocked fans and listeners by abruptly leaving his longtime home at Power 96, "Miami's Party Station." That was April 2012.
But less than 30 days later, Laz announced his return to radio as an employee of Spanish Broadcasting System. In June 2012, the DJ Laz Morning Show began broadcasting on KXOL 96.3 FM in Los Angeles. And the next month, the "Pimp With the Limp" was back in Miami too.
Now, though, it looks like the 305-ers might have to get used to morning drive time without Laz again. Because Spanish Broadcasting System is reportedly taking the bilingual DJ 106.7 FM off the air and scrapping its so-called "Spanish contemporary hit radio" format.

We here at Crossfade contacted DJ Laz, who sent a one-line email reply: "No comment at this time."
Meanwhile, Spanish Broadcast System's communications department and executive vice president of programming Jesus Salas have yet to answer any of our questions about Laz's status at SBS or DJ 106.7 FM's format change.
But as reported by Inside Radio, Laz was removed from DJ 106.7 FM's morning slot on Monday. And the station is set to be replaced by SBS' tropical El Zol format from Friday through January 1.
The apparent reason for these changes is DJ 106.7 FM's poor ratings. Most recently, as Inside Radio notes, the station rated 22nd in Nielsen's November audience survey.
Still, even though DJ 106.7 FM is definitely dead and DJ Laz might be fired, the hardcore "Pimp With the Limp" fans won't give up.
As "loyal listener" Denise of the 305 tells Crossfade: "This is horrible! Everyone needs to submit a petition to not do this!"
