America just celebrated its 237th year of Independence! And since it's a holiday weekend, you just might be celebrating freedom from the restraints of your cubicle!

Even though you're at liberty to do whatever the hell it is you wanna do, we're pretty sure you wouldn't wanna blow all of your hard-earned cash on freedom bashes and booze.

oOoOO. With DJs Strangeways, Mikey R. and Benton G. Friday, July 5, 10 p.m., at Gramps, 176 NW 24th St., Miami; 786-752-6693; grampsbar.com. Free. Arrive early from 6-9 p.m. for $2 Budweiser, Tecate, and Miller High Life, and cheesy goodness from Ms. Cheezious. As the sun sets and the night progresses, oOoOO will have you seeing ghosts with their eerie, witch house beats.

Afrobeta. With the Tremends and Mike Sike. Saturday, July 6, at the Stage, 170 NE 38th St., Miami; 305-576-9577; thestagemiami.com. Free. Afrobeta may want you to "send in the clones," but Cuci's "rapid-fire delivery" combined with Smurphio's "funky synths and head bopping basslines" cannot be duplicated.

Locals Night. With a surprise guest lineup. Saturday, July 6, 10 p.m., at Do Not Sit on the Furniture, 423 16th St., Miami Beach; 305-450-3809; facebook.com/Do-Not-Sit-On-The-Furniture. Tickets cost $10 plus fees via residentadvisor.com. You can dance, you can drink, but don't you even think about sitting on the furniture. Will Renuart's latest musical endeavor Don't Sit is kicking off its weekly Saturday night parties with a surprise lineup from your favorite local DJs, so don't miss out.

Lazaro Casanova describes himself as a "proven time traveler, skilled astronaut, and professional Cuban," and he has a killer mustache. In other words, he's the most interesting DJ in the world.

Stop the Presses. Saturday, July 6, 10 p.m., at the Goose, 3008 Grand Ave., Coconut Grove; 305-529-6498; gooselounge.com. Free. Stop the Presses may have "Daddy Issues," but these guys (and lead chick) reminiscent of No Doubt can kick some ska ass.
