So, we're officially in the midst of Miami Music Festival. Or Ultra Week. Or Winter Music Conference V.2. Or WMC A.D. Or whatever the hell you feel like calling it.
And basically, this is the gist: Another week of parties uniting some of the best electronic music talent in the world with some of the electro scene's most rabid fans. It's an opportunity to see some of your favorite acts, and catch performers you might not get to see otherwise.
The Centro Cultural Español and Ableton understand this. And that's why they're bringing you Eléctrico tonight.
A showcase unlike many others you're likely to take in around town this week, Eléctrico bridges cultures and subcultures. Namely, Latin culture with the electro set. On the lineup for this unique party at Grand Central are our very own Mr. Pauer, DJ Chulius, otherwise known as Julio Briceño of Los Amigos Invisibles fame and Spanish couple Digital 21 vs. Ana Curra.
Digital 21 vs. Ana Curra isn't actually a battle--though we suppose relationships can be tricky at times. The musical lovechild of real-life couple Ana Curra and Miguel Lopez Mora, the project blends old-world styles with modern age flair. Curra is a musical icon back in la madrea patria (Spain), an '80s punk queen who lends classical Spanish piano to this one-two punch of Spanish sounds with electro, which is brought into the mix by Digital 21.
Eléctrico with Mr. Pauer, DJ Chulius and Digital 21 vs Ana Cura. Wednesday, March 23. Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The party starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 11. There's no cover. Call 305-377-2277 or visit grandcentralmiami.com.
