Children of the '90s ...

Remember that awesome alt-rock group The Breeders? Kim Deal of the Pixies started it with her buds, and they had that sick, bass-driven hit "Cannonball."

Well, someone did the math, and that song, as well as the Breeders third album, Last Splash, turns 20 in August. Certainly, a celebration is in order, and the Breeders, with the Last Splash lineup intact, will take the Grand Central stage to relive the album in it's entirety on Wednesday, October 9.

The Miami date comes as a second-string addition to the reunion tour, which has been in full swing since late March.

The tour coincides with a special 20-anniversary reissue of the LP called LSXX. The box-set comes with the original Last Splash vinyl, as well as four 10" EPs of Safari, Cannonball, Divine Hammer and Head To Toe, plus a 12" of their 1994 live performance Stockholm Syndrome. Additional goodies include original demos, BBC Radio sessions and three CDs wrapping all that material into a digital format.

The Grand Central show is the only date in Florida the Breeders have set. It may be your last chance to relive the good days, when angst was pure and females rocked without their tits out. An opportunity like this only comes around every 20 years.

The Breeders Last Splash 20th Anniversary Tour Wednesday, October 9, at Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. Doors open at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $30 plus fees via ticketfly.com. Tickets on sale May 31. Call 305-377-2277 or visit grandcentralmiami.com.
