The Fourth of July may be the day the entire country celebrates our nation's birth, but the real Independence Day actually went down July 2, 1776.
And on this day, 238 years ago, John Adams, one of the main guys behind the American Revolution and first vice president of the U.S. wrote to his wifey Abigail, "I am apt to believe that [Independence Day] will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival."
