Late last night while scooping the spam out of Crossfade's constantly clogged inbox, we spotted a shocking subject line: "Bar Is Closing."
WTF? It's been barely a year since OHWOW's Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran ran a blitz on the 2009 Basel scene by remaking the former PS14 space into a near-replica of NYC's Lower East Side hipster institution Max Fish. And it hasn't even been a full calendar annum since the place reopened under the superminimal moniker, Bar.
Anyway ... Is our fave downtown hangout going out of business? We immediately emailed Moran to get the official story.
"[The rumor is] 100% not true," Moran insists. "The only thing going on is that the building is changing hands so we'll be sending our rent check to a new owner. That's it.
"We have our one-year anniversary coming up with our friends from No Age spinning," he continues. "We're also gearing up for WMC and have already confirmed parties by Diplo and Mad Decent, Busy P and Ed Banger, Spank Rock, and the Do-Over."
And just so you know that shit's totally, absolutely, definitely not changing, Moran concludes: "Never a cover on any of these WMC events. As always."
