Every year, sugary pies are an essential part of the festivities. But if you can't make one, don't fret: Local shops are rolling out scrumptious seasonal options that will take you back to your childhood, when your home was filled with the aroma and flavors of the delightful confections your parents pulled from the oven.
Check out the five best Miami pie options below. They are guaranteed crowd pleasers, and your guests will dig in until not a crumb is left. Preorders are highly recommended.
Bachour2020 Salzedo St., Coral Gables
It's not often that dessert will stop you in your tracks, but one look at pastry chef Antonio Bachour's eye-catching bûche de Noël and your guests will wonder if these treats are really made to eat. Bachour's creations come with tropical twists in fillings of coconut and strawberry or chocolate and passionfruit. Each $55 yule log can feed six to eight people. Preorders are accepted until December 23.
Fireman Derek's Bake Shop2818 N. Miami Ave., Miami
Through January, Fireman Derek’s is offering two festive pies for $38 each. For java junkies, there's a cafecito option, made with a signature oatmeal crust, a filling of salted caramel infused with freshly ground espresso, and a topping of whipped cream and cinnamon powder. Fans of candy canes should try the version made with an Oreo crust that's layered with chocolate ganache, a minty no-bake cheesecake filling, and white chocolate chips, all crowned with crushed candy canes ($38). Both pies are also available by the slice or as a “pie shake,” a milkshake with an entire slice of pie blended into it ($9.50).
Moises Bakery7310 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Putting together a spread of Latin American desserts this holiday? Head to Moises Bakery for delectable Venezuelan treats, including the country's classic Christmas torta negra, packing almonds, prunes, black raisins, candied fruit, and dates and nuts marinated in orange liqueur and brandy or rum ($15). Other top picks are bolo rei — a round sweet cake decorated with slices of brightly colored crystallized or candied fruit ($12) — and a yule log made with cream of coconut, eggs, and biscuits bathed in liqueur and covered with meringue ($15). Orders for Christmas must be placed by December 21. Desserts will be available through the end of the month.

Jazz up your Christmas tree with a decorative version of Pink Pie's miniature confections. Each beautiful treat comes in a clear box with a ribbon and an ornament hook for $5. Pie flavors include gingerbread, pistachio, Oreo Nutella, and s'mores. Enjoying the holidays at someone else's home? Take along an assortment of the shop's mini pies to sweeten your visit. Options include vegan dulce de leche and coconut, red velvet cake, pistachio, and key lime. Seasonal specials include gingerbread, made with cookie butter and ginger cream filling topped with 24-karat edible gold and mini gingerbread man, and a chocolate peppermint variety festooned with crushed peppermint candy and candy-cane sprinkles for extra crunch. A box of one dozen mini pies costs $32. Order by December 21 and pick up by December 24, because Pink Pie will be closed Christmas Day. Delivery is also available.
Sagrado Cafe900 Biscayne Blvd., Miami
For the holidays, this downtown Miami café is whipping up a special Brazilian take on panettone for chocolate lovers. Sagrado's two-in-one Naked Chocotone fuses Italy's quintessential sweet bread with Brazilian brigadeiro fudge, toasted almonds, and Valrhona dark chocolate ($69). The café also recently introduced a tart and sweet key lime meringue pie, made with a pâte sucrée crust filled with lime mousse and crowned with meringue. Pies cost $49 for six-inch and $69 for eight-inch. The last day to place orders is December 21 for December 24 pickup.
