The holidays wouldn't be the holidays without the temptation of sugary treats everywhere you look.
Thanks, Santa, for setting the precedent!
Now, Bunnie Cakes Bakery, Miami's iconic, plant-based purveyor of sweet and savory treats, is hosting its first-ever pop-up just in time for the season of eating.
The Wynwood-based business is now selling vegan and gluten-free cupcakes in the downtown Doral Holiday Center through December 24 in case you need some last-minute Christmas treats.
The cupcakes, which were made famous when Bunnie Cakes founder Mariana Cortez appeared on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars, run $19 for a dozen, $10 for a six-pack, and $7 for a four-pack of vegan cupcakes. Vegan and gluten-free cupcakes cost $21 for a dozen, $11 for a six-pack, and $7.50 for a four-pack.
"We love the downtown Doral community and the amazing work the Codina family has done with the school, the shops, and the love they have put into every single detail," Cortez says. "We are absolutely certain that is the perfect location to expand our business."
The pop-up is in addition to a full menu of holiday treats available at the main Bunnie Cakes location. Customers can order everything from Christmas cakes to wreath cookies to seasonal mini cupcakes and more. The team is even making vegan pan de jamón, a Venezuelan tradition.
This isn't the only new endeavor for Cortez. Bunnie Cakes also opened a decorating space, Bunnie Cakes Studio, behind the original shop in 2017, where customers can make their own treats.
"I will be more than happy to do other pop-ups in the future as we are en route to expand to different locations in the coming years," Cortez says.
