What happened to the good ol days, when aspiring artists hit the streets to bombard anybody and everybody with their talents? Now it seems hopefuls are content with posting cheesy videos on YouTube or creating glitter-laden MySpace pages and praying for their big break. We understand these methods might work, but it couldnt hurt to try meeting people face-to-face. Which is why were sending you to Hollywood -- no, not in California, the one in Broward County -- to perform in a superofficial Industry Artist Showcase. In addition to your mama, A&R reps from major record labels such as Sony, Universal, EMI, and BMG will be in the audience.
Our mission is to get indie artists signed, says talent coordinator and the nights host, Chris Imperial. Were not just looking for musicians; were looking for poets, comedians, whoever. Were looking for people that are gonna be the next big whatever. So if you claim to be a hustla, a go-getta, and on your grind, call Chris at 754-214-6024 or e-mail him at [email protected] to get on the list to perform. Doors open at 8:00, and all ages are welcome, at the Legends Café, 2029 Harrison St., Hollywood. Admission is $10.
