One breezy fall day somewhere outside Seattle, residents gathered in the town square and the mayor buttoned himself into his special occasion suit, all to celebrate the magnificent bean that tames hangovers and makes sleepy eyes bright. The lil brown guest of honor didnt have much to say, but graciously accepted the key to the city and a day named for his oft-muttered name, Coffee. And so National Coffee Day was born, and since then, the magical beverage has done lots for everyone. So stop what youre doing and celebrate.
Sure, you could brew up a frothy mug at home, but its more fun to carouse with your fellow beanheads. Buttercream Cupcakes and Coffee will commemorate the day with free cups of a unique blend of 100 percent Colombian coffee and an 18-flavor roster of homemade cupcakes (that you must pay for) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday also happens to be the only day of the week that the café serves its incredible latte cupcake. Mr. Coffee Bean will surely feel the love if you order one to go with your cup o joe.
