A season of Dancing with the Stars has ended, and you still havent followed through on your promise to get your salsa on. Dont let another run of So You Think You Can Dance come and go before you head to the dance floor at Yuca for a little lesson in a style of dance. For the past two years, the seasoned (and often visually delicious) instructors of Salsa Mia have held court at Yuca each Friday night teaching everyone from brand newbies to 1-2 step pretenders how to do it old-school, Cuban-style. None of that on 1 or on 2 stuff the young kids are trying to do these days, but authentic groovin that will earn you the respect of any true salsa-head schooled in the nuances of rueda. Prepare to be on your feet, because the energy in this salsa class is infectious from registration (8 p.m.) until 10, when the party starts. And DJ Alex and Tony Succar keep you moving with the sounds of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, and more. One night of lessons will run you 40 bucks, but cheaper packages are available.
