Wreck the Raptors

Fun fact, NBA fans: the Toronto Raptors, one of the league’s perpetual doormats, holds the third-best record in the Eastern Conference. Quick, name their best player! Can’t do it, can you? Don’t blame yourself, because the closest this team has to a superstar are two former slam dunk contestants and a point guard (Kyle Lowry) who made his bones in Houston before being unceremoniously shown the door in favor of Jeremy Lin. How’s that working out? The Miami Heat, on the other hand, is coughing and wheezing in the last month of the regular season. The apparent fire that was started under their collective asses a couple of weeks ago has seemingly been squelched under the pressure that comes from the general malaise of being multiple NBA champions. LeBron James continues his quest for an unbelievable fifth MVP title, but things won’t look good if the team can’t pull itself together. Facing Toronto this Monday would be the perfect time for the champs to reassert their greatness. It goes down at the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $35 to $360. Call 786-777-1000 or visit heat.com.
