Work Out, Or Watch

We all know the benefits of working out, but the gym can still be an intimidating place for newbies. Spare yourself the confusion of trying to figure out the elliptical machine and head to Self magazine’s Work Out in the Park event today at Lummus Park. From 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., Crunch Fitness instructors will lead exercise classes that include yoga, pilates, dance workouts, stunt moves, and more. Guests can also indulge in the latest beauty, health, and nutrition products. Admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the event. Visit

Women will also be getting sweaty at another outdoor event across town today. At 7:00 our local women’s tackle football team, the Miami Fury, challenge the Palm Beach Punishers at the North Miami Athletic Stadium (2155 NE 151st St., North Miami) on the FIU Biscayne Bay campus. This game is a little different, as it mixes the rules of the NFL with college and high school football. Come support our local gridiron gals as they push and shove their way to the end zone. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate. Call 786-229-7487, or visit
