Wok It Out

You’ve heard tons about the Mandarin Oriental Miami: The spa is fabulous, the grounds are meticulously kept, and the employees are sickeningly polite. But the last time you checked, your salary won’t allow you a stay in one of the luxury suites or even an appetizer at Azul. Rejoice, frugal Miamians -- tonight is Wok Night, and you don’t need a room key or an American Express Black Card to get in on the fun.

Every Wednesday and Thursday night in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, you can savor the flavors of a freshly prepared wok dish and equally delicious cocktail and sake pairings. It could be the seared Kobe beef and Hong Kong noodles with a Zen Delights cocktail, or the stir-fried shrimp and sobe noodles with a pear fusion cocktail. The wok dishes run eight dollars, and the alcoholic beverages are 10 bucks. Either way, at the end of the night, when the New York stockbroker you met retires to his 2365-square-foot suite, you can hop into your dented Camry and head back to your real life with some cash left in your pocket. Stir it up from 5:00 to 8:00.
Wednesdays, Thursdays, 5-8 p.m., 2008
