In case you thought Miami was all about McMansions and 24-hour high-rises, get acquainted with Coral Castle. Built in 1923 by Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian-American whose Lolita lover had recently jilted him, the place is full of more mystical mystery than Gollum’s middle finger. Some folks surmise Leedskalnin used a bizarre form of science to build the structure by himself; others say he didn’t lift a finger. Either way, dude built a castle with a nine-ton revolving gate that somehow became a magical power spot among those who believe in that type of thing.

We’ve never seen drinking glasses fly across a room or girls with spinning heads, but if you want to walk through the gates and indulge in the supernatural, the Moon Faire Summer Solstice Celebration is a great time to do it. You’ll be surrounded by South Florida’s best psychics, spiritual healers, herbalists, and teachers — AKA your saviors in the spiritual realm. Each quarter, this gathering of the spiritual community celebrates skeptics and die-hards and features a mini psychic fair, all-day drum circles, a performance from pagan rock band Witch’s Mark, and booths full of beautiful wares at the Spiritual Vendors’ Village. Leave your crystal ball jokes at home, but come with an open mind. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and admission is $9.75 for adults, $7 for kids 7-12, and $6.50 for seniors.
