Whip It Good

At first, we were a little suspicious that Roller Derby was like a kinky girl-on-girl mud fight, without the mud and set on wheels. But after seeing fit ladies in pigtails hip check each other, fall on their faces, and then get back up with a renewed urge to kick someone's ass, we are now fully on board. Miami doesn’t have its own Derby team so tough gals from South Florida’s three counties make up the Gold Coast Derby Grrls team that practices and plays in Ft. Lauderdale. This Saturday, our local team takes on the Jacksonville's New Jack City Rollers. Come see the ladies get bruises, but as the organizers warn: “We'd like to remind everyone that you're sitting in a crash zone, be sure to pay attention!” Head to the after party at rockabilly lounge Monterey Club.
