It's summertime, which means Miami's 100% humidity, unoccupied children, and epic blockbusters will have us hightailing it to the movies on the regular. We can't miss the likes of the Rock, Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman lighting up our screens, after all. Even for $12 a pop.

But all movie theaters are not created equal. And there are plenty of shitty venues across the city that you'd be all the wiser to avoid. So to help you navigate the summer movie season as comfortably as possible, here are Miami's top ten movie theaters.

Some are corporate chains, some are artsy independent outposts - but all are a great way to spend an afternoon.

10. AMC Aventura

Convenience is key at this megaplex. Smack dab inside the shopper's paradise that is Aventura Mall, this is an easy way to end an afternoon of throwing down cash for high-priced crap you really don't need.

9. Le Jeune Cinema 6

For the budget-conscious, it doesn't get much cheaper than this. (Barring, say, Red Box.) Six dollars per ticket, plus reasonably priced concessions means the whole fam can actually enjoy an outing together. No need to sneak the kiddos in the side door.

8. Miami Beach Cinematheque & Gallery

If you're into the offbeat, this is your spot. A night in this cozy den is almost like watching a movie at home, but better, because you're surrounded by fellow film fanatics. Plus there's always the chance you'll meet a like-minded special someone who's equally charmed by indie flicks and vegan cookies.

7. Bill Cosford Cinema

Nestled into UM's campus, this hidden gem screens indie flicks and classics in true undergrad, pre-corporate sellout style.

6. Tower Theater

An art house cinema of sorts, this MDC-run outpost on Calle Ocho is inexpensive, charming and historically relevant. Plus, they screen stuff for free all the time -- and in this city, who couldn't stand to save a buck or two?

5. Coral Gables Art Cinema

Another artsy outpost, this famous theater screens indie flicks, foreign films, and hosts all kinds of special events and outside-the-proverbial box occasions for film buffs. Check out its new series of late-night thrillers, titled Gables After Hours.

4. O Cinema Wynwood

When you're feeling more 33133 than 90210, you can get an eyeful of artsy, independent flicks at this local haunt. Nosh on cheap snacks, drink PBR, and lounge on a front-row couch while you take in the picture. And, even if the movie sucks, you'll have plenty of conversation fodder for mingling with hipsters.

3. Regal South Beach Cinemas 18

The site of many a movie premiere, this massive outpost on Lincoln Road is all Hollywood. But in Miami. And it's one hell of a good location, a stone's throw from bars, restaurants and outstanding shopping.

2. CineBistro at Dolphin Mall

For an upscale moviegoing experience, CineBistro is as swanky (and pricey) as Miami gets. And while it's not cheap to eat dinner, down drinks and watch a flick here, it's totally worth the splurge. No annoying little kids past 6 p.m., no obnoxious teens, and free valet parking, too. Plus you can get totally sauced, which makes even the worst movies all that much better.

1. Paragon Grove Theaters

This little piece of paradise smack dab in the middle of Cocowalk is how the moviegoing experience was meant to be. Choose your seats online in advance, and you can slide in just minutes before the previews start rolling. They sell beer and wine and food, too, and they'll even deliver directly to your seats. Heaven.
