The thunderous sound resonates like a swarm of killer bees buzzing around your head. The motorbikes assembled -- participants in the Motorcycle Road Racing Championship Cup Series -- are four-cylinder speed machines, capable of reaching 200 miles per hour.

Intensity grows with each burst of acceleration, as the riders compete on the 2.21-mile road course at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The motorcyclists’ knees and elbows scrape and drag along the smooth asphalt with each hairpin turn. It’s not unusual for a rider to suddenly slip and then slide along the hot asphalt. The most common fall is called a “low-side,” where the bike loses traction on the front tire going into a turn. The bike quickly pushes out and away, sending the rider to dance with death. Get your adrenaline pumping vicariously at this all-day event, beginning at 8 a.m. Visit www.ccsracing.com to learn more about this series.
