The ballroom is dimly lit when suddenly the chandelier begins to glow and guests in masks emerge. “Masquerade! Paper faces on parade... Masquerade!”
No, you’re not in a new production of Phantom of the Opera. It’s the Pridelines Masquerade Ball. A night filled with dancing, music, a silent auction, and food, the ball benefits Pridelines Youth Services of South Florida. Dedicated to providing support and empowerment to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, Pridelines’ work is an essential part of the community. Among its list of duties, the organization hosts nightly programs, provides HIV testing, and offers a safe environment to homeless LGBTQ youth. By attending this annual gala, you’ll contribute to helping Pridelines continue doing its thang.
It wouldn’t be a proper masquerade ball without guests dressed appropriately, which is why Pridelines is encouraging everyone to wear a mask and dress to the nines. After all, it promises to be “an evening of elegance and romance.”
“Masquerade! Take your fill, let the spectacle astound you!” (Good luck getting that song out of your head now.)
