On December 4, 1956, four rock ’n’ roll legends were brought into a recording studio and had themselves one of the most amazeballs jam sessions of all time. This is the untold true story of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins meeting up at the renowned Sun Records and doing their rock ’n’ roll thing. Legendary record producer and mythmaker Sam Phillips gathered these four superstars for one night and let the music giants have at it. Kind of like when Pat Riley was able to bring LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh together, except with more guitars — and Bosh is clearly the Jerry Lee Lewis of the bunch. Million Dollar Quartet, which opens Tuesday at the Adrienne Arsht Center, is the hit Broadway musical that imagines what that night was all about. The production features thrilling musical numbers such as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “That’s All Right,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Who Do You Love,” and other tunes to rock your shit.
