About the only people up before 5:00 a.m. are insomniacs and truck drivers, which is what you'll have to be to catch the Tom Joyner Sky Show at the Miami Arena (721 NW 1st Ave.) featuring DJ Tom Joyner, the morning jock heard on Hot 105 (WHQT-FM). But with Chaka Khan in the house performing her hits, this event is less about greeting the rising sun than howling at the fading moon. The syndicated Joyner, whose show reaches 9 million pairs of ears, is as comfortable spinning Chic or the Sugarhill Gang as he is talking to Jesse Jackson or Dick Clark. Sharing the mike will be Jay Anthony Brown, host of BET's Comic View; Sybil; Myra J.; and the notorious Miss Dupree. The show runs from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. Doors open at 5:00 a.m. Admission is free. That would be dancer Diana Lozano. And the über-cool space freak with the bouncy butt? That's performer/choreographer Octavio Campos. What can you say? Times are tough, and an artist has to eat. If you dig the Afro-pop legend Fela Kuti, then chances are the rhythms of Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra will funk you up, too. Formed by musicians from King Chango, the Soul Providers, and the Daktaris, the 14-piece New York-based band learned its grooves on the streets of Brooklyn and the Bronx. And like its hero, Kuti, the ensemble combines African highlife, jazz, funk, and traditional Afro rhythms with lyrics in English, Yoruba, and Spanish. Plus all the politics that made Fela so lovable.
