Calendar-minded craphounds probably assumed that the hit Ladies of Manure 2013 calendar would be followed up with an incredibly unpopular and revolting Advent calendar. Incorrect! On Tuesday, the Fertile Earth Foundation’s Ladies of Manure are hosting the second annual UnderGROUND Miami fundraiser to benefit their composting and waste-reduction efforts. How will they get people there? With a “specially commissioned art installation made with, you guessed it, manure!”
Who guessed it? Well, probably anyone downwind.
There’s lots to do at UnderGROUND Miami, including having a meal made from captured invasive species and cooked up by chefs Julie Frans of Essensia, Todd Erickson of Haven, and Kris Wessel of Florida Cookery. Hey, lionfish: Go ahead and invade our ecosystem. Psyche! That’s really our belly!
It all goes down at 6 p.m. at the Palms Hotel and Spa (3025 Collins Ave., Miami Beach). Expect a “Cow Chip Tossing Contest” to which Miami Beach Commissioner Jerry Libbin has challenged the rest of the candidates. Um, maybe shake his hand before the contest? This reeks suspiciously of a who-can-punch-the-softest game in which Libbin lets all the other candidates get doodie on their hands, and then he goes around rubbing suntan oil on their girlfriends’ backs. But that’s politics, man.
There will also be a silent and live auction. No idea if it’s more poop up for bid, but even if you think it’s cheaper to make your own, remember: It’s for charity.
