Miami City Ballet is on fire as it enters 2012, appropriately the Year of the Dragon. After a string of international accolades in 2011, MCB kicks off its Program II at the Adrienne Arsht Center Friday at 8 p.m. with a world premiere from Liam Scarlett. He's the uncommonly gifted 25-year-old dancer with London's Royal Ballet who has become a choreographer as well. MCB commissioned him last year to create his first American production, and the result is Viscera. Set to a nontraditional contemporary score from Lowell Lieberman, the dance reflects the unique qualities of Miami's flagship ballet troupe and includes a pas de deux bookended by two movement-challenging selections, Scarlett says. Also part of the evening: Jerome Robbins choreography to music from Chopin, in this case three pas de deux for In the Night; and another Balanchine take on Tchaikovsky, an homage to Russia's cultural capital of St. Petersburg, Ballet Imperial.
