Two years ago, in May of 2008, Colombian painter Santiago Betancur moved to Miami. Feelings of despair and homesickness soon set in and started to alter the course of his art. The result were paintings of, according to the Avant Gallery, dark, skinless figures, who dripped with blood and had only shreds of a human soul. Dont worry. Hes now coming out of his dark period. His most recent paintings use lighter tones of blues, violets, and green, while maintaining a focus on the human shape. See his paintings at the Avant Gallery until May 15.
Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: May 6. Continues through May 15, 2010
