Monster Mash

When we were kids, we loved trick-or-treating -- endless amounts of free candy without having to utter an insincere “Please?” We were in Halloween heaven. But all of that changed when allegations of razor-blade-laden apples and cyanide-injected candy corn swept through Elm Street, and we’ve been on a strictly costume kick ever since. It’s a good thing we got the practice early on, because the adult version of Halloween is more about the slutty costumes than candy anyway. This year there are plenty of places to show off your best “Superman That Ho” costume and beg for some free goodies along the way.

Vizcaya is hosting its annual Halloween Sundowner Party tonight from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. There’ll be an open bar, live music, psychic readings, and costume contests, all for a $125 ticket purchased in advance at, or $135 at the door. Horror lovers, find your screams at the Monsters Ball (28 NE 59th St., Miami), which features a haunted house, art show, and dance party. The bash rolls from dusk till dawn, and it'll cost $20 to get the pants scared off of you tonight. Call 561-706-8566. And if you plan on being a wino for All Hallows Eve, head to Bacchus Wine Bar (5904 S. Dixie Hwy., South Miami) for its Hallowine Party, where you can get your sip on from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Call 305-663-3368.
