Celebrate the anniversary of the Mexican army beating the foie gras out of the French in 1862 and ensuring the victory of the taco over the croque monsieur on Thursday, May 5aka, Cinco de Mayoat the Rosa Mexicanos in South Beach and Mary Brickell Village.
You and Mr./Ms./Mrs. can start partying at 11:30 a.m. at both locations, but the real festivities start at Mary Brickell at 4 p.m., when a Mexican-style street festival goes off on the restaurants outdoor patio, complete with bar specials; stations featuring fresh-made guacamole, tacos and ice cream; a mariachi band and DJ. Theres a DJ at the SoBe Rosa too; both bashes go on until midnight, when it becomes Seis de Mayo.
Oh, and one more thing. Slurp down Rosas new cocktail concoction, the multi-culti margarita, made with one part tequila to two parts Grand Marnier. Olé-la-la. . .
