Marvel Universe Live! Brings Spider-Man, Thor, Loki and More to the Arena Stage

It's way too easy not to grow up. Given the explosion of the video game industry, comic book movies, cosplay, and comicons the age of the manchild is officially here - and it's only just begun.

Get ready for Marvel Universe LIVE!, a massive arena production based on all your favorite comic heroes and villains. Actually, we might have to make up new words, because "massive" doesn't even begin to explain how big this really is.

This is really big, like 25 Marvel characters big, as Spider-Man, Thor, Iron-Man, Wolverine, and more take on Loki, Green Goblyn, Doctor Octopus, and others. It's a full-stage presentation, complete with multilevel adventuring, aerial stunts and all manner of gravity-defying super stuff.

The story line includes elements from the epicly awesome movies Thor and The Avengers. According to a press release, the goodies and baddies alike will try to collect pieces of the broken Cosmic Cube, inconveniently shattered by Thor and spread around the globe. There will be action-packed chases, hair-raising battles and death-defying fight choreography. Imagine super cool sequences like somersaults take-downs and punches that will send a body flying across a room. We can only imagine what the Hulk will be doing to the poor henchmen.

If your inner nine-year-old isn't yet shaking uncontrollably, prepare to be nerded: thanks to advances in live show technology, it's going to be just like watching a Marvel movie, but in your face.

That means seeing and hearing Wolvies' snikt, snikt in person. It means you'll witness Tony Stark transform into Iron Man right before your eyes. It means being up-close-and-personal as Thor's gloriously-muscled body heaves that giant hammer around, rippling in the lights, sweat... uh, you get where this is going.

Now that you're all riled up, here's the bad news. Marvel Universe LIVE! won't be making it down to South Florida until the end of November. At least there will be a full 14 shows, with seven in Ft Lauderdale's BB&T Center (Nov. 21 to 23) and seven at Miami's American Airlines Arena (Nov. 28 to 30). But don't wait! Tickets are already on sale.

It's not a coincidence that it's around Thanksgiving. Every single nerd, dork, or geek in South Florida has a lot to be thankful for.

Marvel Universe Live! Friday, Nov. 21, to Sunday, Nov. 23 at the BB&T Center, 1 Panther Pkwy, Sunrise. Friday, Nov. 28, to Sunday, Nov. 30, at the American Airlines Arena, 601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. Tickets cost $45 to $170 plus fees via ticketmaster.com. Visit marveluniverselive.com.
