KRELwear Leaving ArtCenter Studio With Moving-Out Sale

For the last three years, Karelle Levy has been working out of her ArtCenter space on Lincoln Road creating her fashion line, KRELwear. The designer — who weaves together her own fabrics — is gearing up to make a move to her own studio space early next year and is hoping to do so with very few boxes.

“I’m trying to get rid of as much as humanly possible — even my new stuff that I’ve been making in the last month. Everything is either 50 percent off or 75 percent off, so like hot shorts, which are usually one of my top sellers, are usually $120 are now $30,” says the artist.

Looking up to figure out some imaginary numbers, Levy laughs and says, “It’s all just really good deals. I’m just trying to clean house, because the less I move with the happier I am. But also, it’s a great opportunity for all the people that love my stuff that can’t afford it to just take advantage.”

Levy has plans to open her own boutique in Little Haiti in 2016. Next door to her new space is MADE at the Citadel, Guiccivuitton, and the Mindy Solomon Gallery. “Already that strip is ‘happening,’” comments Levy with air quotes, “so it’s really exciting to move to the new soon-to-be happening spot.”

New Times visited Levy's studio space to get a taste of the sale. Although the entire studio is 50 to 75 percent off, the fashion designer says anyone can walk in on Friday or Saturday and just make her an offer (perfect for any last minute Halloween costume needs). Here’s a glimpse of what you can snag from the KRELwear moving out sale this week.
