Higher education can be alluring, and when you add a handsome professor to the mix, it becomes even more so. The oldest tale in the overpriced textbook is that of a student and professor caught in a tantalizing love affair. This electrifying tale that sparks secret fantasies comes to life in Robert Stone’s newest novel, Death of the Black-Haired Girl. Stone’s main character, Steven Brookman, is a New England college professor who falls for the girl who never turns in her assignments on time (which could explain why she feels the need to seduce him). But Steven is married and plans to break things off with his student — but what happens next is hardly what he expected. Head to Books & Books (265 Aragon Ave., Miami) this Tuesday at 8 p.m. to hear Stone speak about the inspiration behind the novel. The book will be available for purchase at the store, and chances are you can snag a sweet autograph.
