Support the independent voice of Miami and help keep the future of New Times free.

With all the fun of the long weekend behind us, it's bound to be a bit of a rough week. Post-vacation blues are the worst. But on the bright side, it's just 59 sunsets until Labor Day weekend arrives.

In the meantime, here's some free stuff to get into while you wait for 5 p.m. on Friday. Enjoy.

Trivia Tuesdays at Elwoods Pub: Finally, all that useless knowledge you've absorbed from hours of aimless Internet browsing can be put to good use.

Brickell Run Club: Burn off all those extra calories you consumed over the Fourth of July with 250 of your closest friends.

Red Bar Gallery Night: Celebrate hump day by sipping some vino, eating hors d'oeuvres and eyeballing objets d'art.

Miami Jazz Society at the Gusman: Hear an oh-so-Miami mashup of Cuban rhythms, blues beats and other sounds at this free shindig.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
