What does Coconut Grove taste like? Probably one-half left-over granola from its bohemian heyday in the '60s, plenty of beer and chicken wings with an extra side of college recklessness, and a bit of seafood fresh off a megayacht docked at the marina. Oh, and a sprinkling of international cuisine offered in both fine-dining settings and at casual sidewalk eateries. For a sampling of the latter, head to the Great Taste of the Grove Food & Wine Festival at Peacock Park Saturday or Sunday. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., area restaurants such as Atchana's East/West Kitchen and Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar & Latam Grill will offer small bites from their menus, while libations flow from a spirits lounge and winetasting area. Local jazz and neo-soul music acts Tito Junco, Prince Haiti, and LaVie will provide the entertainment, along with local chefs performing cooking demonstrations. Admission to the festival is free, and food and drink tickets cost $1 each. All samples will cost one to eight tickets, and proceeds will benefit local charities.
