What better way for the world to end than in an orgy of food-truck deliciousness? That’s the inspiration behind Food Truckalypse, a pre-zombie apocalypse event kicking off at Amelia Earhart Park (401 East 65th St., Hialeah) this Friday, AKA doomsday. Think of it as your last meal.
At this foodie free-for-all — after all, calories don’t count in the afterlife — an Armageddon preacher will greet eventgoers by screaming out the scriptures. Fire-breathers will singe and scorch their surroundings, getting the crowd fired up for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and their dark ride. And let’s not forget Santa — well, Zombie Santa. An undead version of Kris Kringle will be on hand for photo ops.
The main event, however, is the food. More than 30 food trucks will serve their regular menus plus one special apocalyptic item each. These end-of-the-world comestibles include Sakaya Kitchen’s Eat Like There’s No Tomorrow Double Beast Bulgogi Burger; Marlie’s Delights’ Chocolate Cherry Brain Cake, oozing with “blood,” and Pescados Unidos’ Chernobyl Conch Chowder.
It’s the end of the world as we know it, and you’ll feel full. But not too stuffed, let’s hope, because at the end of the event, if the world is still spinning, zombies will chase full-tummied attendees from the park. Scary.
