Where do you think fashion is headed? Are we going in the direction of all-black everything à la The Matrix or maybe a more environmentally friendly way that will incorporate recycled materials into our everyday wardrobe? The students of DesignLab Miami have the same questions, which they will answer on the runway at Wynwood’s House of Art (415-B NW 26th St., Miami) during the fashion show Future of Fashion this Friday. Part of House of Art’s Miami Art Week lineup, Future of Fashion runs from 7 to 10 p.m. — during which time you’ll be able to exchange ideas about trends that do not yet exist over glasses of wine and passed hors d’oeuvres. Take in the current House of Art exhibit, which showcases emerging and established resident contemporary artists. Then, at 8:30, it’s showtime. A dozen students ages 5 to 15 will each showcase one made-from-scratch look that’s been crafted with unconventional and recycled materials. Something speak to you? Chat with the designer afterward to see how you can kick your wardrobe up a notch. Bet you never thought you’d be taking fashion advice from a 5-year-old. Call 305-891-0440 or visit designlabmiami.com and houseofart.co.
