Evil Trees

Gershwin had it wrong. It’s summertime, but the living ain’t easy. At least not for the poor campers being terrorized by psycho killers in Gutter Films’ next batch of slasher flicks, scheduled for a series of screenings with the theme “In the Woods.” Hey, just in time for summer vacation. Gutter, Miami’s only free cult-classic and B-movie series, kicks off its bloody programming Wednesday at LAB Miami (400 NW 26th St., Miami) with Don’t Go in the Woods Alone (1981). Expect backwoods murderers throwing tourists off waterfalls and attacking unsuspecting honeymooners. Rituals (1977) will screen Friday, June 7, at O Cinema (90 NW 29 St., Miami) as part of Gutter and O’s Bizz-R-O Series collaboration. The series ends back at LAB with Just Before Dawn (1981) Wednesday, June 12. After the screen fades to black and the lights flicker on, you might want to practice those survival skills before you think about taking that hike in the woods alone. If you’re in the mood for camp and horror, Gutter has all the frights your sick little heart can handle. The screening events at LAB kick off at 8:30pm p.m. with food, beer, and festivities. O Cinema's event starts at 11:30 p.m. Visit gutterfilms.com.
Wed., June 5, 8:30 p.m.; Fri., June 7, 11:30 p.m.; Wed., June 12, 8:30 p.m., 2013
