Dinner Duels

Food battles are so much better than the kind with fists. Who wants to see two dudes beat each other to a pulp when you can watch ’em beating eggs instead? And you might see just that at Iron Fork, where the city’s top chefs go head-to-head in a deliciously daring duel. This year, Yardbird Southern Table & Bar’s Phillip Bryant will battle Blue Collar Restaurant’s Daniel Serfer for the coveted Iron Fork award. As in Iron Chef, the two dudes will receive a secret ingredient with which to create culinary masterpieces. Then, Hell’s Kitchen contestant Robyn Almodovar (representing Palate Party) will face Alfredo Montero (from Mr. Good Stuff, New Times’ Best Food Truck 2012) in a food truck competition. The best part: Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, unlimited food samples, and an open bar featuring Smirnoff Vodka, Captain Morgan Rum, and Guinness Black Label. And all of this gluttony is for a good cause — the United Way. Remember, when eating is involved, everybody wins.
