In this economy, everyone loves a comeback story. Y’know what else people love in tough times? Free stuff. So we expect SoundScape Park to be packed full Wednesday night for the screening of The Natural, part of the weekly SoundScape Cinema Series.
The Natural tells the story of Roy Hobbs, who begins as a plucky kid with a natural talent for baseball. After a freak shooting, his career is put on hiatus, only to reignite 16 years later. But this is no feel-good film. Hobbs’s success leads to plenty of personal drama, and — spoiler alert — the film ends with the baseball player weeping. If that’s the price of success, maybe we should all be a little more grateful for our collective financial ruin.
Or not. Either way, the film is a classic starring perennial hottie Robert Redford. And did we mention it’s free?
