If you are an avid reader of Cultist (as you should be), you caught our interview with AshleyMadison.com creator Noel Biderman last week. According to him, at one point or another, everyone in this world cheats. So we got to thinking: There's no way everyone is an adulterer, right? Right?! Ugh, maybe they are.
If someone cheats on you, expose that bastard on a new site, Cheaterville, an online database of those who have trouble with fidelity. Since February 2011, the site has become a haven for
bitter spouses looking to put their slutty loved ones on blast. Oh, it's also how Jesse James got caught publicly cheating on Kat Von D.
So
to truly figure out if AshleyMadison.com's creator is just nuts or if
everyone is as horny as we think they are, we called Cheaterville.com's
creator, James McGibney.
New Times: True or false: Your website is the reason Jesse James and Kat Von D called it quits once again, correct?
James McGibney: Basically a woman from Austin posted information on our site last Saturday with proof like texts and emails from Jesse. She wanted to remain anonymous and was able to with us. Right after that happened, Kat Von D dumped him again, and we were the source. It was kind of nuts that we were the source and not TMZ.
So staying faithful is not Jesse James's forte?
Yes. People like him are the reason we started Cheaterville.com. People that are habitual cheaters and ruin life after life, family after family. It wasn't started for celebrities, but it goes to show you that they are human too.
Why did you create this site?
I am a former Marine and I was on a overseas deployment, and when we came home, one of my Marine buddies found out his wife had been cheating on him the entire time he had been away. I just thought to myself, I wish there was a site where you could out people and make sure other people know that they are a liar. That was the premise of the site, and it just kind of blew up since there.
A little different from your days in the military.
(Laughs) Oh, yeah. It's nice not having people yell at you every five minutes to do pushups and getting shot at. Although, I can imagine one day there is going to be an angry husband that takes a shot at me. But at least I will be ready for it.
Have you ever been cheated on?
I have cheated and been cheated on -- I have been on both sides of the fence. When I cheated, it was a long time ago -- I just didn't really care about the feelings I was hurting or the families I was destroying. Looking back, it was such a selfish act. It sounds so cliché, but it really did make me a better man and a better person. I never did it again.
What does your wife think of the site?
She loves it. Her friends love it. Really, people who don't cheat love Cheaterville.com. They love it and support it. It's the cheaters who hate it. When I first created it, all my Marine buddies were like, "You are such a cock block." But the fact is, 81 percent of the cheaters on our site are women. Out of that, 40 percent are women outing other women. When a woman outs another woman, it's like a CSI crime scene. It is so detailed.
Kinda like, don't mess with a woman scorned?
It also proves that women are smarter than men. You are absolutely right. A man just gets pissed off and says she is a whore. When a woman is cheated on, it's methodical.
What are your thoughts about AshleyMadison.com creator, Noel Biderman?
I know him, actually. I will say that he is an entrepreneur and he's very smart. But wait -- he is married with kids. So if you are going to support something and believe it, he himself can't be married and then say, "Well, this site is for people who are married and want to spice up their life." It just doesn't make sense to me personally. It's a little moronic.
He believes that everyone in this world cheats. Do you agree?
I have been married for years and, no, I don't think that is true. I think there are good people in this world; maybe I am naive. AshleyMadison.com is kind of an insult to a big population to a majority of the United States. Not that I would cheat, but I wouldn't because of Cheaterville.com; I wouldn't want to be seen by millions of people. People cheat because they are selfish. After seeing a ton of posts on our site, you start to see a theme. With men, they seem to be looking for something new and forget about what is most important.
I believe if you don't believe in marriage, don't get married. If you want to cheat, get a divorce. Noel, from AshleyMadison.com, believes cheating is keeping your marriage alive. I believe he is justifying cheating.
He told me has been called a home-wrecker time and time again. Is your own feedback good or bad?
It's 50/50. We get thousands upon thousands of emails every day saying thank you and they think this site is awesome. We get personal stories that they were dating someone, put up a post on Cheaterville.com, and then -- boom -- they found out he was married. But then there is the guy who gets posted and all of a sudden we are the home-wreckers because he is married with kids.
Your site is the perfect revenge when you are cheated on.
It depends on the circumstances. Let's say your boyfriend cheats on you and it's devastating. He packs up, moves, and blames you the entire time. There is no closure and you're pissed. You go to Cheaterville.com and you blast him out. Now everyone knows about him when they land on our site, and so does he. With this, you will get your closure. He will be calling and texting you to take it down, but you know you aren't returning his calls. More than likely, he will respond to the post and say why he did. In a weird way, you do get closure. And if you do, you can take your post down.
Doesn't defamation of character come into play?
We
have been in this business since Valentine's Day of this year and still
have not had one lawsuit. We do get threatened with them all the time,
but at the end of the day, we are protected by the Communications
Decency Act of 1996, like Facebook. We are just a forum to interact. I
am a Marine -- I have fought for people to have freedom of speech.
What if what people are writing isn't true?
Well,
we aren't judges or a jury. That is why we encourage people to put as
much proof as possible to cure any doubts. Media has turned this and
made the cheater the victim. Never do they mention the person that was
cheated on.
There is a map of the biggest cheating cities in the U.S. on your site. Miami is one of them.
I
think that it's when certain stories get of out of cheaters in their
cities, it kind of erupts. Maybe people in big cities cheat more -- you
would think that. But when you are in the tiny town, there is just
nothing better to do than cheat and drink. At least in a big city, you
have the option of going out with your significant other and doing
something.
Cheaterville.com must make people a little hesitant to use online dating sites.
We
see a lot of traffic coming from Match.com and PlentyofFish.com. When
people meet people online, before they go on that first date, they check
out Cheaterville.com just to make sure they know what they are getting
into.

created our dating site, Cupidville.com, because here you can't create a
profile if you have a Cheaterville.com profile. We are the only website
in the world to do that.
