Charcoal and Cocktails

The art world can be so snooty. When it’s time for an exhibition, people get all gussied up to stand around with their noses in the air. Sometimes it’s best to simply appreciate art in its purest form, and to appreciate artists as the real, down-to-earth talents they are. Local comic book artist Greg Narvasa aims to demystify it all by hosting an event that celebrates two things many artists love to do. Come one, come all, to the first meeting of Drink and Draw Miami!

“It’s for anybody who wants to drink and draw, or just drink. Or just draw. It was started by professional comic artists, but everyone is welcome,” says Narvasa. The rules are few: “You must be 21, and don’t walk out on your bar tab!” The social club originated in California, and today there are chapters in Atlanta, Louisiana, and Milwaukee. For this first meeting, Narvasa is expecting respected local illustrators Luis Diaz, Pooka Machine, and Terribly Odd, as well as visitors from as far away as Palm Beach and Melbourne. Everyone will hang out, doodle, and get their drink on beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Sunset Tavern. Learn more about Greg Narvasa’s art at
