The fourth season of Burn Notice, the number one series on cable, hasn't even hit the air yet, but USA has already renewed the Miami-set show for season five and six. In fact, the network's president Jeff Wachtel tells Variety that the decision to move the series from New Jersey to the sunny setting of South Florida in development was key to its success: "That was a crucial moment in the life of the show."
"Once Saturday Night Live makes fun of you, how can you not commit to extra seasons?" Wachtel says, referring to an SNL sketch poking fun of the fact that despite its popularity the show hasn't quite cut through to pop culture ubiquity.
The show shoots at the Expo Center in Coconut Grove, and after something of a fight gained rights to remain there through 2010. However no deal has been set to keep the show there after that.
The fourth season premiers June 3, and MyNetwork TV will also begin airing re-runs of the show starting this fall.
