For the second year in a row, Humphrey Bogart fans from around the world will converge on Key Largo to remember one of Hollywood’s most treasured actors. The 2014 Humphrey Bogart Film Festival takes place this Thursday through Sunday with screenings, parties, and panel discussions. The festival was founded by Stephen Bogart, the son of Bogart and Lauren Bacall. He says besides screenings of his father’s films, including of course Key Largo, there will be other classics, from Gone With the Wind to Titanic. “I love Titanic, I gotta tell ya,” says Bogart, speaking from his home in Naples, Florida. Bogart say attendees can also expect a special tribute to his mom. “People love my mother,” he says. “She’s not gonna be there, because she’s gonna be 90.” But there will be many other notable cinema personalities appearing, including famed film critic Leonard Maltin, local star documentary filmmaker Billy Corben, and actresses Olivia Thrilby and Carly Pope, who both star in new features produced by Bogart’s production company, Santana Films. Like the inaugural Humphrey Bogart Film Festival, Bogart expects people worldwide to attend, including young fans, which he admits is a bit of a surprise. “It’s amazing the number of young people, even teenagers,” he says, “but there are so many in their 20s and 30s coming out.” The festival unfolds at a variety of venues, from traditional movie houses to outdoor screening locales, including Hilton Key Largo (97000 Overseas Hwy., Key Largo).
