Fran Lebowitz. Woody Allen. Leo Rosten. Not to stereotype, but its pretty safe to say the Jews have given us many hilarious storytellers. However, the world might need an update of Woodys quip I was raised in the Jewish tradition, taught never to marry a gentile woman, shave on a Saturday night, and most especially never to shave a gentile woman on a Saturday night. This Friday, Heeb magazine for the first time brings its critically acclaimed Heeb Storytelling Series to Miami. And Israelites of all types will weave seven-minute tales espousing the humorous travails of modern Jewish-ness.
The evening will be hosted by Daniel Reskin (Sweat Records Casa de Ha-ha) and feature tales by Andrea Askowitz (author of My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbian Pregnancy), Larry Beinhart (American Hero), Karelle Levy (designer of KRELwear), and many more. The event begins at 7 p.m. on the Miami book fairs grounds (at NW Second Avenue between Fourth and Fifth streets).
