There aren’t many professional sports where you can simply pony up cash to compete against some of the best players in the world. Actually, there’s none we can think of — besides pool. The names Corey Deuel, Allison Fisher, and Johnny Archer might not mean much to common folk. But to people who can shoot (and please don’t call them sharks), those monikers represent the top men and women in the sport. And for a cool $500, you can share a table with them, though you might not get but a few strokes. These players don’t miss often. The fourth annual 10-Ball Steve Mizerak Championship begins this Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) and features an open draw with some of the best national and international female and male players (competing in the same tournament, another rarity in pro sports) vying for a $50,000 purse. And you could be right there with them, though you have a better chance of swallowing a cue ball than winning a game.
